Exosphere On Top Of Golden Rose Betting

Exosphere is currently available at 2015 Golden Rose Stakes odds of $3 and he remains a clear favourite in betting markets for the Group 1 event that will be held at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Exosphere stamped himself as a leading Golden Rose contender when he stormed home late to record an impressive victory in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 29 and he went to the top of betting for the $1 million race after Vancouver was ruled out of contention.

The Lonhro colt was given his final piece of work yesterday morning and trainer John O’Shea told Sky Racing HQ that he could not be happier with the three-year-old ahead of the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) this weekend.

“He worked beautiful,” O’Shea said.

“We are really happy with him, he pulled up well and he was good.

“We saw a rib today for the first time this prep, so that was encouraging and he has made nice improvement from the run the other day.

“He is on a nice upward spiral, he is relaxing beautifully and when he relaxes well he hits the line strong.

“Everything is on track at the moment.”

Press Statement is currently on the second line of the Golden Rose Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes and there has been a sprinkling of support for the Chris Waller-trained galloper.

The JJ Atkins winner was beaten by Exosphere in the Run To The Rose, but the Hinchinbrook colt has proven form at a distance greater than 1400 metres and he will receive a lovely trail into the race from barrier three.

While Exopshere and Press Statement remain on top of Golden Rose betting, the clear market mover in early betting markets has been talented filly Speak Fondly, who is now into $4.60 after she opened at $5.50 when the Golden Rose stakes field was released earlier in the week.

The Rosebud winner Sebring Sun has remained steady at his opening Golden Rose Stakes odds of $15, but the rest of the field has been on the drift in the last 24 hours.

Peter Moody-trained Gold Symphony opened at $15, but he is now out to $21 and punters are not confident that the form coming out of Melbourne will stack up in the Golden Rose, while Sires Produce Stakes runner-up Rageese ($17 out to $18), Up And Coming Stakes winner Shards ($12 out to $13), extreme outsider Let’s Make It Rain ($21 out to $34) and Godolphin-owned Holler ($13 out to $16) have all been on the drift.
