Excapishe Shocks On Debut

New kid on the block Excapishe turned heads this afternoon when he produced a convincing win in his debut run at Doomben Racecourse.

The two-year-old won the Enwise Electrical 2YO Plate by almost five lengths, proving to trainer Trevor Bailey that he has a bright future ahead of him.

Bailey purchased the Exceed And Excel gelding at the 2010 Magic Millions Sale for $100,000.

“I bought two horses at the sale – this bloke and another one by Fastnet Rock for $150,000,” Bailey said.

“You go to the sales and try to buy the type of horse you’re looking for.

“If they’ve got the breeding and also what catches your eye then that’s what you go for.

“He breezed up well and caught my eye at the sale.”

Bailey was confident in Excapishe’s  ability since his first day of training.

“He’s always shown plenty,” Bailey said of Excapishe’s talent.

“He’s just taken a little while to grow into himself – he’s pretty much there now – but not complete.”

Excapishe will most likely have one more race before heading out to the paddock.

“We’ll get him home and see how he is in the next week or so,” Bailey said.

“But he’ll probably have another run – whether it be in Brisbane or at the Grafton Carnival.”

“He’s a nice horse with a bright future.”
