The first planeload of horses will arrive in Melbourne on September 28 and is set to include Dandino, Forgotten Voice, Simenon, Side Glance, Mull Of Killough, Opinion, Trevieres and Ruscello.

Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock-owned Dandino, Glorious Stakes winner Forgotten Voice and Willie Mullins-trained Simenon are all on track to contest the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) at the home of the Melbourne Racing Club on October 19 before contesting the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 5.

Side Glance and Mull Of Killough, who both competed in the Group 1 Arlington Million Stakes (2011m) on August 17, are both hoping to make the final field for the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) that will be held at Moonee Valley on October 26.

Sir Michael Stoute-trained Opinion has been entered for the Melbourne Cup but he is unlike to qualify for a run in the race and is expected to run in either the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on October 12 or the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) on October 23.

French galloper Trevieres has just joined the stable of Markus Nigge and has been included in the nominations for the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup but is expected to tackle the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m)at Caulfield on October 12 as his first start in Australia.

OTI Racing-owned Ruscello is a Melbourne Cup hopeful and could follow the same path as Gatewood, who contested the Herbert Power Stakes, Geelong Cup and Lexus Stakes (2500m) during the 2012 Spring Racing Carnival, in an attempt to qualify for ‘the race that stops a nation’.

Also on the plane will be Danny O’Brien-trained sprinter Shamexpress who is returning to Melbourne after finishing ninth in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (1005m) and seventh in the Group 1 July Cup (1207m).

All the European-trained horses will be based at the TAB Werribee International Horse Centre during their stays in Australia.
