Wolf Cry was included in the nominations for both the 2016 Eskimo Prince Stakes and Manfred Stakes that were released yesterday, but co-trainer Peter Snowden has revealed that the talented colt is likely to remain in Sydney for the Group 3 event at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Team Snowden will be represented by Pride Of Dubai in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) and they kept their options open by entering Wolf Cry for the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 6, but Snowden told Sky Racing HQ that he is keen to keep the Street Cry colt in Sydney.
“I want to stay here,” Snowden said.
“I think that he is still a bit new to be going to Melbourne this early.
“My first choice will be to run him here.
“He was excellent this morning.”
Wolf Cry made his racing debut with a third place finish behind Vancouver and Sooboog in the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m) at Royal Randwick on October 4 in 2014 and he went on to perform well without winning in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) at the same venue on February 14, the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 28 and the Group 3 Schweppervescence Quality (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 28.
The three-year-old was sent for a lengthy stint in the spelling paddock and was specifically targeted at the Magic Millions Maiden (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9, which he won in dominant fashion despite casting his off fore plate just before the start of the race.
Snowden believes that Wolf Cry has taken plenty of benefit from the trip to Queensland for the Magic Millions Maiden and he is confident that the colt will have a fitness edge over the majority of his rivals in the 2016 Eskimo Prince Stakes.
“He is rock hard fit, he had a good foundation put into him before he ran at the Gold Coast and when he came home he didn’t go to the paddock and he just poked around at the beach,” Snowden said.
“He is going to present in very good order on Saturday and he is a horse that is ready to.”
The 2016 Eskimo Prince Stakes field will be released tomorrow and Wolf Cry is set to take on the likes of Vanbrugh, Shards, Voilier, Painted Firetail and Cannyescent.
