English Top Jock Impressed By So You Think

Ryan Moore is easily one of the most in-form riders in the UK at the moment and that was highlighted when he secured the mount of So You Think in his first European Group 1 on the weekend.

It was a race the former Australian star won easily and one that certainly made the Europeans take notice.

Moore was no different and after the ride he was suitably impressed with the quality of the horse.

“I was very happy with him, he’s a massive horse and very relaxed,” he said.

It was probably a weakish Group 1 but when I shook the reins he picked up very impressively.”

So You Think cantered to victory a mile in front of his rivals in Ireland and given he’s only just beginning his prep there is plenty more of that to come.

“He had a little bit of a blow after the race so you’ll expect a bit of improvement,” he said.

The best distance is still somewhat of a talking point in regards to So You Think considering he’s had plenty of victories over the mile but run up to the 3200m.

“He’s probably fairly versatile but around  10 furlongs (2000m) is probably spot on,” he said.

“The way he travels in his races he does it very easy.”

While certainly getting his first Group 1 victory is a big bonus, he still has a long way to go to assert himself as one of Europe’s best.

“It wasn’t the strongest of Group 1’s but still he’s kicked it out the way,” he said.

“He’ll be against tougher opposition at Ascot but probably not as strong as you think.”

So You Think is just one of a number of top rides for Moore who also partners the internationally renowned Workforce.

“He ran on Thursday night at Sandown in a Group 3, he has a big penalty but we just want to get him back on track,” he said.

“He won’t be going to Royal Ascot though, there’s not really a race over his distance in a Group 1 only a Group 2.”

Moore will also be on show in the English Darby and is expecting nothing short of a victory as he rides for royalty.

“I’m riding the very short priced favourite Carlton House who’s owned by the queen,” he said.
