A taste of what Black Caviar can expect when venturing to England for Royal Ascot in June may be gauged earlier in Australia.

Prohibit the horse who defeated the Australian galloper Star Witness in this year’s King Stand Stakes (1000m) at Royal Ascot in June may race in Melbourne next year.

The Robert Cowell trained six-year-old could be the surprise starter in the Lightning Stakes (100m) at Flemington on February 18.

The 1000m Group 1 race is a leg of the Global Sprint Challenge a series of worldwide races that accumulates points giving the winner a bonus and prestigious title.

Prohibit would travel from Melbourne before Dubai for the Al Quoz Sprint, run on Dubai World Cup night on March 31.

Prohibit was fifth in last year’s Al Quoz.

The 1000m specialist clocked a sizzling 55.35sec in winning the Group 3 Prix du Petit Couvert at Longchamp on September 11, then finished seventh as favourite in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp on Arc day, October 2.

Prohibit is by Oasis Dream the horse that defeated Aussie galloper Chosir in the 2003 July Cup at Newmarket.

Prohibit has won won nine of his 43 starts.
