My Kingdom of Fife will look to extend his winning streak to four when he takes on the Group 1 Doomben Cup in Brisbane this Saturday.
The six-year-old gelding has won all three of his Group races since beginning his career in Australia last month.
Trainer Chris Waller feel that My Kingdom Of Fife is well prepared for this weekend’s Doomben Cup.
“He worked pretty well and we were able to use the course proper at the Gold Coast which is a great surface to work on,” Waller said.
“He hit the line strongly without being asked for too much of an effort, and most importantly he pulled up well.
“He is absolutely thriving and I guess that is the key to his success.”
Waller is hoping that the track at Doomben Racecourse will continue to remain dry for My Kingdom Of Fife’s race.
“There will be no excuses (on Saturday) and I am quite looking forward to getting him onto a better track,” Waller said.
“We know he handles a slow and heavy track but Nash said he was not entirely happy on the Gold Coast track last start.”
The trainer will also be represented in the $500,000 Doomben Cup by Triple Honour, who has not produced the same top performances as his stablemate of late.
“I am looking straight through his last two runs,” Waller said.
“He loomed up to win the Hollindale, but did not quite finish it off and Jim Cassidy assured me that he was not happy in those conditions, so we are hoping for a better track for him.”
Another English import who will compete in this Saturday’s Doomben Cup is Mike Moroney’s Glass Harmonium.
Glass Harmonium finished half a length second to My Kingdom Of Fife in the Hollindale Stakes last start.
Moroney feels that while he is in good form, he is capable of much more.
“He seems to have trained on the right way and he had a nice gallop this morning on a pretty wet course proper, but he went round quite well,” Moroney said.
“Being a stallion still he has taken a bit of work and I think he is not quite at his peak fitness yet, but he not far away,” he said.
Should he run well this weekend, Moroney is set to aim Glass Harmonium at the Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
