The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained English is one of sixteen gallopers nominated for the feature sprint race on George Main Stakes Race Day.

English has a perfect two from two first up record and the Tulloch Lodge Team have prepared her for her comeback with two Randwick barrier trial wins on August 19 and September 6.

The Encosta De lago mare has shown above average ability since her two year old days and after winning the Group 2 $300,000 Guinness Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Randwick went on to run second to stablemate Vancouver in the 2015 Group 1 $3.5m Tooheys New Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.

English then claimed her Group 1 victory with a slashing win in the $600,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick during the 2016 Sydney Autumn Carnival.

“She’s a clean-winded, lovely mare … and she was always going to be sleek like a greyhound but she is very healthy and happy,” Waterhouse told The Daily Telegraph.

“She has a lot of upside and I don’t think we’ve come to the bottom of her yet.”

“I do (think she will go to a new level this spring) and I believe she has made the weight-for-age improvement.’

Chris Waller has only nominated one for The Shorts, Group 1 winning four year old Japonisme and the premiership winning trainer will be looking for improvement following his first up flop when a tiring sixth to Felines in the Group 3 $125,000 James Boag’s Premium Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on September 3.

Joe Pride has nominated Ball Of Muscle  and Craftiness while John Sargent is bringing Smart Volatility back to Sydney after running eighth to Sooboog in the Group 3 $150,000 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 6.

Team Snowden have Dothraki ready to fire in The Shorts with two solid barrier trials under his belt, a second over 900m at Rosehill on August 30 followed by a win in a 1000m Warwick Farm trial on September 9.

Gerald Ryan has entered the consistent Inz’N’Out while Team Hawkes have nominated Kaepernick who will be having his first run back since running eleventh to Under The Louvre in the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm during the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Clearly Innocent is the winner of his last five starts and Scone trainer Greg Bennett is ready to test him in harder company after his last start win in the Listed $140,000 Yarraman Park – Horsepower Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) at Scone on May 14.

Early market order for The Shorts at Ladbrokes.com.au: $2.80 English, $6 Clearly Innocent, $6.50 Japoisme, $9 Ball Of Muscle, $10 Dothraki, Kaepernick, $15 Takedown, $17 Boss Lane, Craftiness, $26 Atmospherical, $31 Inz’N’Out, Sarjevo, $41 Howmuchdoyouloveme, $51 Smart Volatility, $81 Decision Time, $101 Burradoo.
