Emirates Stakes Nominations Feature Jimmy Choux

There have been a total of 33 nominations for the $1 million Emirates Stakes, which will run on the last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival this Saturday.

New Zealand galloper Jimmy Choux is looking to back up from his impressive second in the $3 million Cox Plate with a win in Saturday’s feature race.

The four-year-old entire experienced much success in Australia during his three-year-old season when he won the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas in March.

Since then Jimmy Choux has become the flag bearer of New Zealand racing, winning three Group 1 races in his home country this spring before being an unlucky second in the prestigious Cox Plate.

Queensland horse Woorim will also be heading towards a start in the Emirates Stakes.

Woorim won the Group 3 tab.com.au Stakes last Saturday and jockey Michael Rodd was full of praise for the horse after the race.

”You saw what he could do. He is a horse that gets back and if you can wind him up he can unleash a really good turn of foot,” Rodd said.

“He’s a really classy horse and probably a bit underestimated, but when he turns up he can do that.”

Peter Moody’s King’s Rose and last start Betfair Stakes winner Love Conquers All are also amongst the Emirates Stakes nominations.
