Bobby El-Issa’s last ditch attempt to salvage his career from the ashes has been delayed with stewards adjourning his appeal against a two-year ban.

Racing Queensland barred the jockey after a ride on the Doncaster Mile third-placed Bold Glance at Eagle Farm back in February.

El-Issa was accused of failing to utilise all reasonable and allowable measures in his power to win the race when aboard the Norm Hilton trained runner.

It was then alleged he colluded with gambler Stephen Fletcher with bets on both the eventual winner Essington as well as lay bets on Bold Glance to lose.

The appeal was delayed while Fletcher provides Racing Queensland with documents which fully detail his betting behaviour before the race in question.

They will then make a decision on if they have enough evidence to escalate the action taken with Fletcher having also been charged over the race.

Racing Queensland is expected to be as tough as possible on both Fletcher and El-Issa if they feel they have a strong case, as can be expected with the allegations among the most serious in the racing industry.

“Mr Fletcher’s bet history illustrated a concerning level of confidence when laying horses ridden by jockey El-Issa,” the stewards report from the hearing said.
