El Divino on Track for Run To The Rose

A half-brother to champion mare Winx, El Divino has only made two competitive appearances at the races so far, but has more than stamped himself as a colt to follow and will enter his 2016 Spring Carnival campaign undefeated.

Pleased with the condition taken by the Snitzel colt in his time away from racing, Waterhouse told Racing Ahead that the three-year-old will contest a trial at Randwick next week before returning to competition in the Run To The Rose 2016.

“Outstanding horse. He completely and utterly filled in behind,” Waterhouse said.

“He’s a massive horse, very masculine. When a horse walks in that’s a good horse, you don’t have to be told it’s a good horse, there’s an air about it. He’s got an air about him where you go ‘oh wow, he’s nice’.

“He’ll trial at Randwick next week, then run in the Run To The Rose and then onto the Golden Rose.”

Out of valuable mare Vegas Showgirl, El Divino underlined himself as a potential star prior to his competitive debut via two impressive and dominant trials at Randwick.

Plenty of hype surrounded El Divino’s competitive debut in the More Than Just Winning Maiden (1000m) at Gosford on March 17th and the horse did not disappoint; producing an impressive late turn of foot to continually pull clear of his rivals and find the line more than five lengths ahead of his closest opponents.

Facing a far bigger task when lining up for the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) on Day 2 of The Championships second-up, El Divino settled in a good position within the field of nine before locking in a fierce late sprint battle with Astern; finishing in a dead heat with the Godolphin stakes winner.

El Divino is currently at 2016 Golden Rose odds of $15 in early betting markets at Ladbrokes Australia.
