Dual Oaks winner Egg Tart has drawn barrier four in her 2017 Spring Carnival debut in the Group 2 $200,000 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

In-form jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who rode a personal best five winners on Chelmsford Stakes Day at Randwick last Saturday, will again be aboard Egg Tart after they combined for two memorable Oaks wins during the Autumn and Winter Carnivals.

The Chris Waller trained Egg Tart with McEvoy on top scored a nose win in the Group 1 $400,000 Schweppes Oaks (registered as Australasian Oaks) (2000m) at Morphettville on May 6 and then went on to score a more comfortable win in the Group 1 $500,000 Treasury Brisbane Queensland Oaks (2200m) at Doomben on June 3.

Waller has selected the Group 1 $1m Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on September 30 as Egg Tart’s main Sydney Spring Carnival target.

“I think she is a genuine Epsom horse,” Waller told AAP.

“We gave her a good break after Queensland and that is the reason she wasn’t racing two or three weeks ago.

“She is not a big mare but she is very athletic and quite fit.

Waller will also saddle up Group 1 winners Foxplay and Good Prospect in the Theo Marks Stakes.

Foxplay had a break after winning the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Legacy Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on April 8 and almost caused the upset of the Sydney Spring Carnival when a nose second to champion stablemate Winx in the Group 2 $250,000 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 19.

Blake Shinn takes over from McEvoy on Foxplay who has drawn barrier six while Good Prospect will jump from gate seven with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Trainer Gerald Ryan is looking forward to another a bold performance from Deploy who is coming off a last start win in the Group 3 $150,000 Suttons Show County Quality (1200m) at Randwick on August 19.

The Fastnet Rock five year old has drawn nicely at barrier three and has Josh Parr replacing Brenton Avdulla in the saddle.

The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have Cannyescent (barrier 5) going around in the Theo Marks Stakes and the Canny Lad gelding will jump from gate five with Tim Clark replacing Damien Oliver who was aboard for the gelding’s first up nose second to Hey Doc in the Group 3 $150,000 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 12.

The Ron Quinton trained Dixie Blossoms has been primed for a good first up performance with two recent Randwick barrier wins but will have to overcome the outside barrier in the eight horse field.

Corey Brown replaces Sam Clipperton on Dixie Blossoms who hasn’t started since running third to Foxplay in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
