Howmuchdoyouloveme will take his place in the Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton on Wednesday despite being lumped with the top weight of 60.5kg.

The four-year-old sprinter carried 59.5kg to win the Listed Lightning Handicap (1000m) before scoring a gusty victory under 60kg in the Group 3 W.J. Healy Stakes (1200m) during the Brisbane Winter Carnival but the 60.5kg will be the heaviest weight he has carried during his racing career.

Making Howmuchdoyouloveme’s Ramornie Handicap assignment even more difficult is the presence in the field of fellow speedster Adebisi who has only been allocated 57.5kg by the handicapper.

Adebisi is returning to the races, for the first time since his flop in the Listed Bribie Handicap (1200m) in March, and has an excellent first-up record.

The Brisbane-trained gelding recorded impressive first-up victories in the Listed Australian Bribie Quality and Salt Design Handicap last year and clearly races at his best when fresh.

Both Howmuchdoyouloveme and Adebisi are noted for their early speed and if both elect to contest the lead it is certain that the Ramornie Handicap will be run at a good clip.

Natalie Mccall-trained River Lad finished a narrow second behind Howmuchdoyouloveme in W.J. Healy Stakes and has also made the trip to Grafton.

River Lad will meet Howmuchdoyouloveme a kilogram better in the Ramornie Handicap and could be the major beneficiary if the two top-weights become embroiled in an early speed battle.

The Ramornie Handicap is the feature race on the opening day of the Grafton Racing Carnival with the Grafton Cup set to take place on Thursday.
