Toowoomba mare Dual Chamber finally delivered on her promises when winning the Listed Just Now Quality at Eagle Farm today.

The backmarker has continually caught the eye with finishing burst that promise punters of a next start win.

But this victory was just her fourth in 27 starts.

Trainer Rex Lipp believes it has taken the five-year-old mare up to now to mature.

“She’s been very temperamental and a real headache before now but we’ve finally got her cured,” Lipp said.

“She’s bigger and stronger now and more mature but a lot of it has been in her head.”

Jockey Eddie Wilkinson gave Dual Chamber a great ride, after settling sixth on the fence.

In contrast Glen Colless was caught three wide without cover aboard race favourite Skating on Ice.

Race leader Miss Imagica set a good speed in front and kicked in the straight.

Despite the wide run, Skating On Ice loomed at the 300m with Dual Chamber getting up on its inside.

At the 200m, Dual Chamber burst to the lead and drew clear from Skating on Ice with Just Destiny doing her best work in the final 100m third.

The win brought up a winning double for Wilkinson as he won earlier in the day aboard Miss Barwang in the NMW (1200m).

“She’s pretty hard to deal with but she got the right run through the race today,” Wilkinson said.

“She really quickened up nicely when I called on her for an effort.”

Lipp is eyeing off the Listed Bernborough Handicap (1615m) at Doomben on December 31 but isn’t sold on the plan.

“I’m really not sure what to do with her now but I’d say the Bernborough will be her next goal,” he said.

Skating On Ice was gallant in defeat.

“It was a good run and it was only the barrier which cost her victory,” Colless said.
