Dreamaway Chases Melbourne Spring Success

Dreamaway will begin her spring campaign at Flemington on Saturday under the watchful eye of new trainer Dean Binaisse.

Binaisse acquired the WATC Derby winner after her connections chose to move her from Perth to Melbourne to chase the more lucrative spring carnival races.

Dreamaway was previously trained by Grant Williams at his Karnup stables in Western Australia.

The four-year-old mare has won all five of her last starts and was due to have already begun her spring preparation, however, did not travel well on her flight over to Melbourne.

“She travelled over horribly,” Binaisse said.

“I knew as soon as she got off the truck that she wasn’t in good condition and I had a hell of a time getting her to put weight on and just to get her happy.

“But her coat’s come through now and she’s bright and happy and well.”

The More Than Ready mare appears destined for great things after beating Group 1 Australian Guineas and Australian Cup placegetter Playing God in her last start.

Dreamaway will run in this weekend’s $125,000 The Sofitel before continuing on a spring campaign that Binaisse is yet to work out.

“It’ll just be one step at a time, because she could end up going backwards pretty quickly,” Binaisse said.

“We’ll just see how she goes.”

Dreamaway has won six of her ten career starts and gas accrued prize money of $680,000.
