Dream Ride Continues For Jockey Tim Clark

Jockey Tim Clark has continued his successful Sydney autumn carnival by riding a treble at Canterbury Racecourse on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old is still fresh from his winning Group 1 double on Sacred Choice in the Doncaster Mile and Atomic Force in The Galaxy earlier this month.

Clark is mindful of how important his current success is for his career.

“Definitely riding a couple of big winners over the carnival is helping getting me even better opportunities,” Clark said.

“Obviously after riding a Group One double you can’t get much more confident than that.

“It gives you a big boost and a lot of self-belief and I just want to keep rolling along from that now.”

Clark’s stellar midweek performance saw him reach a total of 45.5 wins in Sydney, putting him into fifth place in the Sydney jockey premiership.

“I thought if I could ride 50 winners for the season it would be a good effort, I rode 36 last year,” he said.

“I’m well into the forties now but if I head up to Brisbane a few times over the winter carnival that’s obviously going to slow it down a little bit.

“But if I continue riding well I should be able to get to the 50.”

The young jockey achieved the final leg of his treble at Canterbury yesterday on Chris Waller’s Gogra Gogra, who came from the rear to win the Guineas Restaurant Handicap.

“They wanted me to ride him quiet and give him the chance to run the trip out strongly,” Clark said.

“He relaxed really well in the run and did quite a good job because they didn’t go overly quick. He really sprinted well the last furlong (200m).”

Clark’s success is sure to lead to a great number of bookings during the upcoming winter carnival in Brisbane.
