Doomben May Be Upgraded To Good 3 For Black Caviar’s Big Day

Doomben Racecourse is set to have the perfect track conditions for tomorrow’s BTC Cup Day, despite the recent rain.

Brisbane Racing Club track manager, Bill Schuck, is certain that the track will be perfect for Black Caviar’s appearance in the $400,000 BTC Cup.

Mr Schuck said that while the track is currently a Dead 5 it will most likely be upgraded as early as this afternoon.

“We have left it as a Dead 5 at this stage,” Mr Shuck said.

“We have done a fair bit of aeration so we decided we would run the light roller round it to tighten it up a little bit so I am expecting that after lunch we will be at a Dead 4.”

Mr Schuck is unsure as to what rating the track will be given for tomorrow’s big race, but feels that no-mater the rating, it will be in optimum condition.

“Up here winter tracks are different to summer tracks and there is not much difference between a Good 3 and A Dead 4 as far as I am concerned and we have the track cherry ripe,” Mr Schuck said.

The track manager said that the long gap in racing at the track has contributed to its good condition.

“It is over eight weeks since we raced in the true position and it is just a carpet of grass,” Mr Schuck said.

“Everything has gone to plan for Doomben on preparation for the winter.

“We tried to give the inside as long as we could.

“In saying that the middle of our tracks get a hammering but we have had a good month off at Doomben and we have aerated it and done everything that could be done to that track has been done.

“It is 100 per cent even from the inside to the outside fence and it is in beautiful condition.”
