It’s easy to get stuck in the past with He’s Remarkable given the Railway Stakes appeal continues to hang over his head.

In fact that issue will again become big news next Tuesday when a hearing is held to determine whether or not the team have leave to appeal.

For those that missed it He’s Remarkable was denied a Railway Stakes victory when a protest was upheld for Luckygray in hugely controversial circumstances.

For trainer Roger James though he needs to keep looking forward given he has a top quality horse in the prime of his career.

He was immediately spelled after the Railway Stakes with a view to big things this autumn.

“He came home via Melbourne and he arrived home in magnificent order,” he said.

“I put him out for six weeks…he’s just getting through some nice build up work at present.”

He’s Remarkable will again by plying his craft in Australia this year with everything geared towards Sydney’s major.

“The Doncaster will be our main aim, he’ll have a couple of lead up races in the George Ryder and the Newmarket Handicap at Newcastle,” he said.

In fact He’s Remarkable won’t have any lead up runs at home in New Zealand because the timing just didn’t line up.

“With the Sydney Carnival being so much later our main carnival is sort of finished and gone, there’s not really a suitable race at home here for him,” he said.

One thing they’ll be hoping for in Australia is a change from the poor weather that hampered last year’s autumn.

“His whole four year old form has been very strong, the chink that he has in his armour is he doesn’t like the cut in the ground,” he said.

“He’s just not able to pick himself up and change gear on rain affected tracks.”

James said that a combination of heavy weights and soft ground is what kept him just out of the top group over the spring and with the right conditions he’ll surprise a few more people than he already has.

“(Jockey) Kerrin (McEvoy) said after Perth, ‘I didn’t realise he’d go bang that quickly when I pressed the button’,” he said
