Doncaster Mile an option for Emancipation Stakes favourite Solicit

A start in the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on first day of ‘The Championships’ on Saturday week is still an option for Emancipation Stakes favourite Solicit.

Trainer Gerald Ryan has not ruled out backing up Solicit week to week after she contests the Group 2 $175,000 Ascend Sales Trophies Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill this Saturday.

Solicit has only been allocated 51.5kg in the Doncaster Mile and Ryan feels this weight gives her a great chance to claim her first Group 1 victory.

“She might back up. We have not ruled it out,” Ryan told AAP.

“It’s a three-million-dollar race and she gets in with 51-1/2 (kilograms) on her back.

“She won’t have another chance like that so it’s not out of the question if she comes through Saturday well.”

But if Ryan decides against running the Street Cry mare two weeks in a row, she could line up in the Group 1 $1m Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick the following week.

Solicit has been installed the $2.70 favourite for the Emancipation Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au on the back of some very consistent Autumn Carnival form, including a last start third behind Peeping and Azkadellia in the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 12.

At her previous start Solicit broke through for a well-deserved all the way win in the Group 2 $175,000 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 27.

That win followed two first class seconds to Our Boy Malachi in the Group 2 $200,000 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on January 30 and to Cox Plate winner Winx in the Group 2 $250,000 Optus Business Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 13.

Kerrin McEvoy has been aboard the front running Solicit in all her three Sydney Autumn Carnival runs and will have to let the mare stride forward again from the outside barrier in the thirteen horse Emancipation Stakes field.

Market order for the Emancipation Stakes: $2.70 Solicit, $4.80 Badawiya, $7.50 Zanbagh, $8.50 Telepathic, $11 Lady Le Fay, $14 Amicus, $15 Slightly Sweet, $16 Pasadena Girl, $41 Skyline Blush, $51 Just A Blur, $61 Supara, $71 Casino Dancer, $126 Thunder Lady.
