Dissident has flown under the radar heading into the 2014 Memsie Stakes, but trainer Peter Moody is confident that the talented entire is ready to run well in the Group 1 event at Caulfield this afternoon.

Moment Of Change is considered Moody’s best chance in Memsie Stakes betting markets, but the leading trainer is not ruling Dissident out of contention for the $400,000 race.
Dissident was scratched from the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick last weekend due to the wet track, but Moody told Racing Ahead that, despite the setback, he is expecting the son of Sebring to run extremely well in the Memsie Stakes.
“This horse wintered superbly in Queensland and I was very pleased with his last prep, he failed in the Donny, but previous to that his form was super,” Moody said.
“He wintered and did a treat in Queensland and he had one trial there and a further trial in Sydney.
“He looks in magical order, he is a very good colt and I am not going in thinking that he is the second stringer at all, I’m thinking that he is the class colt in the race and he is going to run very well.
“He is ready to run well, these are Group 1 races and he is a valuable Group 1 winning entire.
“His seven furlong mile form is very good, so I would like to think I have him reasonably ready.
“I think that he has very good quality and I am expecting him to run extremely well.”
Dissident had three race starts in Melbourne as a two-year-old, but he has spent the majority of his career in Moody’s Sydney stable and has not raced in Melbourne since he finished fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 12 last year.
Moody revealed that Dissident had a little bit of trouble settling on his Melbourne leg during a trackwork gallop at Caulfield on Tuesday, but he is confident that it will not be an issue in the Memsie Stakes this weekend.
“I was quite surprised that he was a little bit rusty back on his Melbourne leg on Tuesday morning in his gallop, which he probably hadn’t done for a good year or so,”
“Linda Meech rode him in the gallop and she is a very good judge and she said that it just took him a little while to balance and find his stride.
“On Thursday morning I actually did a little bit with her again and he was more comfortable.
“Hopefully he takes that to the races.”
Dissident is currently available at 2014 Memsie Stakes odds of $15, with Boban ($3.50) a narrow favourite from Messene ($4), Sweet Idea ($6) and Moment Of Change ($6.50).
