Trainer Peter Moody is confident that Dissident is a winning chance in the 2014 Caulfield Stakes no matter how the Group 1 event is run at Caulfield tomorrow.

The Caulfield Stakes is set to be an intriguing tactical affair and could be run in a number of ways depending on the intentions of Michael Walker on Crackerjack King, but Moody told Racing Ahead that the pattern of the race will not be an issue for Dissident, who can make his own luck regardless of the circumstances in the Caulfield Stakes.
“It doesn’t matter with this horse and it is the great thing about him,” Moody said.
“They could jump out and walk and he could take it up and run it to suit himself.
“The ideal scenario is that everybody wants to hand him the one-one in a weight-for-age race and he can be in sight of the leaders with an even tempo.
“He makes his own luck, puts himself into the race, he comes off the bridle 500 or 600 from home takes a furlong to wind up and then hits his straps.
“It takes a hell of a lot to get past him or hold him off.
“We don’t have to worry about.”
Dissident was narrowly denied a third straight win at Group 1 level in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 28 and Moody is confident that the Sebring entire has taken plenty of benefit out of the run.
Moody believes that Dissident still has come improvement left in him heading into the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 25, but the leading Melbourne trainer said that he would still like to see another strong effort from the consistent four-year-old in the Caulfield Stakes.
“He has come through it super,” Moody said.
“That was a conditioning run on the way to this race and apart of his training regime and he only missed out by a head that day.
“He has come on well from that and he had a nice trackwork gallop here on Tuesday; he worked home from the mile and quickened up from the three with race jockey Ben Melham in the saddle.
“We both walked away pleased and he has done well all week since.
“I still think that there is a bit of improvement in him heading towards a Cox Plate, but I want to see everything positive tomorrow.
“I would love to see him win, but outside of that I want to see all the positives to tell me that he is going to run a strong 2000 metres.”
Sacred Falls has returned to favouritism in Caulfield Stakes betting markets at a quote of $4.20, while Dissident is now available at 2014 Caulfield Stakes odds of $4.60.
