Delicacy made her racing debut in June last year, but during the autumn and early winter period she stamped herself as one of the best staying fillies in the country with a string of outstanding performances.
The daughter of Al Maher started her winning streak in the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m) on February 28 and she went on to take out the Listed Natasha Stakes (2200m), Group 3 Western Australian Oaks (2400m), Group 2 WATC Derby (2400m) in Perth before she was sent to Adelaide where she took out both the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) and the Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m).
Connections opted to bypass the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival with Delicacy and she returned to the races with a tough third behind Black Heart Bart and Magnifisio in the Group 2 Waroa – Lee Steere Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on November 7.
Black Heart Bart got the better of Delicacy in the Waroa – Lee Steere Stakes and he is currently on the second line of betting at a quote of $4.80.
The Blackfriars gelding was sent to the spelling paddock after he finished at the tail of the field in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 6, but he returned to racing with a win in the Listed Birthday Stakes (1200m) at Belmont Park on October 3 and he went on to take out the Group 3 Northerly Stakes (1420m) at Ascot on October 21 and the Waroa – Lee Steere Stakes in similar fashion.
Real Love is also on the second line of Railway Stakes betting markets and has been well-backed since she returned to the races with a win in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on October 31.
One of the most interesting horses in the 2015 Railway Stakes field is Chris Waller-trained Good Project and he is currently priced at $7.50 to claim a maiden win at Group 1 level.
Good Project was beaten in the Lavazza Short Black Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day, but he did enough to convince connections that he was worthy of a trip to Perth for the Railway Stakes and they elected to scratch him from the Group 3 Sandown Stakes (1500m) on November 14.
The only other horse that is available at single figure 2015 Railway Stakes odds is Hazzabeel, who earnt a start in the race after he took out the Group 3 R.J. Peters Stakes (1500m) at Ascot on November 14.
Favourites do not have a great record in the Railway Stakes, with El Presidente (2007) and Luckygray (2011) the only favourites to win the race in the past decade.
