15 three-year-old middle-distance runners are set to run in the $150,000 feature race, with many of the horses looking to earn a place in the $ 1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) field in a fortnight.

Hijack Hussy is $2.90 favourite in the odds at Ladbrokes.com.au along with three other single figure hopefuls – Soldi Domani ($4.20), Deiheroes ($8), and Loveitt ($9).

Three-year-old gelding Deiheroes has finished in the first three in eight of his nine career starts but will be making his debut in Queensland racing on Saturday.

After arriving in Brisbane last week, the Lloyd Kennewell-trained gelding has impressed in trackwork ahead of the 2014 Vo Rogue Plate, for which he will jump from barrier 10 with Ric McMahon in the saddle.

“All being well he will go on to the Magic Millions Guineas in a fortnight. He really deserves a chance at more Magic Millions money, he has been so consistent,” Kennewell told Racing Victoria.

“He has won four races and the worst he has done in nine starts was a fourth a Moonee Valley when he didn’t have much luck.”

Deiheroes won a Benchmark 82 over 1200 metres at Morphettville last time out on December 13, beating home his older rivals by two and a half lengths.

“We were looking at running him in a three-year-old race but he would have got 61 kilograms so we took on the older horses,” Kennewell said.

“He won well and ran around 1ms9 for the 1200 metres. It was a smart effort against some far more experienced horses.”

The Tony Gollan-trained Hijack Hussy is favourite to win both the Vo Rogue Plate and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas after winning the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day before claiming a minor placing in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) on December 6 at Doomben.
