Smart sprinter Deep Field has come up with a horror barrier draw in Saturday’s Group 1 $400,000 Canadian Club Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill.

Deep Field will jump from the outside of the fourteen horse field after drawing barrier seventeen when the final field of fourteen plus three emergencies was released today.
The Team Hawkes trained Deep Field was undefeated from five starts heading into this Autumn campaign but has failed to salute as favourite at his two runs since resuming.
James Winks had the ride when the Northern Meteor four year old ran third behind Lankan Rupee and Brazen Beau in the Group 1 $500,000 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) at Flemington on February 21.
Then Tommy Berry gave Deep Filed the run of the race before going down to Target In Sight in the Group 3 $150,000 Smooth FM Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill last Saturday.
While owner Alan Bell was disappointed with the last start defeat, he is willing to forget the run and move on into the future.
“We are not done yet,’’ Bell told The Daily Telegraph.
“I was happy enough with the run and it is going to get serious from now on. The horse will strip fitter and fitter every time he runs and he is more match fit.’’
Tommy Berry has been booked to ride Deep Field again this week and the bay stallion will be wearing the blinkers for the first time the Galaxy.
Last start Group 2 Challenge Stakes winner Miracles Of Life has also drawn out in the car park and came up with barrier fourteen in the original draw with the three emergencies all drawing inside of her.
Hugh Bowman will be aboard the Peter and Paul Snowden trained mare again.
Most of the top chances have also drawn poorly with Famous Seamus (Jim Cassidy) drawing fifteen, the Peter Moody trained Flamberge coming up with gate thirteen, Chris Waller’s last start winner Heart Testa getting gate sixteen and the Gai Waterhouse trained Sweet Idea (Blake Shinn) also drawn out wide at twelve.
Sweet Idea should be able to overcome the wide barrier with her good gate speed and the Snitzel mare has an outstanding first up record with three wins and a second from four attempts.
Moody will also saddle up A Time For Julia who has drawn well at three with Glen Boss to ride.
The Gerald Ryan trained Rubick (Kerrin McEvoy) will get his chance to redeem himself from barrier four after being beaten as favourite when third to Miracles Of Life in the Group 2 $400,000 Hyland Race Colours Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on March 7.
Others to have drawn reasonable barriers are Knoydart (James McDonald) at two, Avoid Lightning (Tim Clark) at six and Fast ‘N’ Rocking (Dwayne Dunn) at eight.
