Dear Demi Set To Resume In Millie Fox

Dear Demi has been a consistent performer at the highest level of racing since she made her racing debut at Royal Randwick in 2011 and the popular mare is set to start another racing campaign in the 2015 Millie Fox Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on February 21.

Dear Demi was sent to the spelling paddock after she suffered a throat infection ahead of the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 19, but trainer Clarry Connors told Sky Racing HQ that she recovered from the issue quickly and is in great condition ahead of the 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Connors confirmed that Dear Demi would likely start her campaign in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) and she is a chance of contesting races like the Group 3 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on February 28, the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Classic (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 14, the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) on March 28 and the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 11 before a potential trip to Queensland for Group 1 Doomben Cup (200m) on May 9.

Dear Demi has had 37 starts in the past three and a half years, including 17 starts at the highest level of racing, but she has remained sound throughout her racing career and Connors said that she continues to thrive ahead of her autumn preparation.

“She loves being in the stable to tell you the truth and she is a tremendous eater, I have to watch what I feed her,” Connors said.

“She does do well and I’ve never had any limb ailments with her ever since she has been in the stable, she has been as good as gold.

“She had an inflamed throat in Melbourne and that is the only thing she has had her whole career.”

Dear Demi recorded her first race win for almost 18 months when she took out the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 26 last year and she has now recorded wins at Group level in the 2012 Group 1 Crown Oaks (2400m), 2012 Group 2 Furious Stakes (1400m), 2013 Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) and 2013 Group 3 The Roses (2000m).

The Dehere mare is currently available at a quote of $51 in the 2015 Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes.
