Dato’s Plan To Make So You Think The Greatest

Dato Tan Chin Nam has proved himself to be one of the world’s most prolific racehorse owners across five decades and he’s achieved just about everything you can achieve.

Despite having owned dozens and dozens of incredible horses, So You Think seems to be something special even for him.

He’s currently embarking on an ambitious European campaign and in the mind of Tan Chin Nam  the goal is to become the best in the world.

The owner sold a majority share in So You Think to Coolmore Stud after his third in last year’s Melbourne Cup  and that saw the switch form Bart Cummings to Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien.

O’Brien is currently preparing him for this latest test, the Group 1 Prince Of Wales Stakes over 2000m at Royal Ascot.

So You Think has easily won in both his European starts so far but this will be his biggest test yet.

Tan Chin Nam is far from concerned about the challenge, rather he’s excited about the assignment he faces.

“In life you must always challenge yourself to find your best. It is no different with racehorses,” he said.

“I have been very fortunate to have raced some great horses and from (the 1974 and 1975 Melbourne Cup winner) Think Big to So You Think I have always wanted my best horses to have their greatness tested.

So You Think has been challenged in Australia and shown himself to be the Tiger.

“He deserves his chance to see if he is the biggest Tiger in world racing.”

In his Australian career So You Think ran 12 times and recorded five Group 1 wins including a rare double of the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

He started as favourite in the 2010 Melbourne Cup but didn’t quite have the legs as he finished third behind Americain and Maluckyday.
