The stand-alone Saturday meeting at Hawkesbury Racecourse today went off without a hitch, with the three Listed races being won in spectacular fashion.

Darley scored the trifecta in the first Stakes race of the day, The Darley Crown, which they also sponsor.

Kanzan came through with the goods for Darley and Peter Snowden, winning the race by 1.3 lengths ahead of stablemates Screen and Dysphonia.

The fourth Darley contender in the race missed out on a fourth place finish by a half head, and finished behind in fifth.

Snowden was thrilled to have scored such a wonderful result and was full of praise for Kanzan’s winning performance.

“She had been working really well out at the farm and was really thriving,” Snowden said of Kanzan.

“Her work on Monday morning was brilliant. I thought if she could bring that work here she was going to be hard to beat and then when the rain came it was a bonus.

“She had won twice before at the track so she had a lot of things in her favour.

“It’s always good to win the race you sponsor,” he said.

While Kanzan is a proven swimmer, Screen put in a fantastic run to finish second on a track that was not at all suited to her.

“She went terrific and I think on a dry track she probably would have beaten the winner,” said Kanzan’s jockey Joshua Parr.

The Listed races continued in Race 6 when Keepin’ The Dream won the Hawkesbury Rowley Mile ahead of second-place getter Altered Boy and third place-getter Pureness.

The $150,000 Hawkesbury Guineas were won by Marc Conner’s Pimpala Secret ahead of Speediness and Steps In Time.

The Guineas were won by Pimpala Secret in a time of 1 minute and 24.68 seconds.
