Danish Twist can continue her winning run in Tattersall’s Club Tiara

Trainer Kris Lees can see no reason why his in-form mare Danish Twist can’t keep going on her winning way in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Danish Twist is the winner of her last four starts and Lees gave her the go ahead to chase a Group 1 win against the fillies and mares after she scored an impressive two lengths win in the Listed $100,000 June Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on June 11.

“It showed that she’s in really good form and that she’s quite adaptable now, to be able to come back to that type of trip,” Lees told Racenet.

“It just seems when they find that form, if they can maintain it, they’re very hard to stop.

“A mare in form with a Group I so close, it was the logical target.”

Danish Twist’s winning run began with a victory in the $400,000 The Provincial Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick on the second day of ‘The Championships’ on April 9 followed by a win in a 1300m BenchMark 85 Handicap at Hawkesbury on April 30.

The Dane Shadow mare then continued on her winning ways by taking out the Group 3 $200,000 Godolphin Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on May 14 before heading back to Randwick for her June Stakes victory.

Lees is happy to have secured the services of this season’s leading Group 1 winning jockey Hugh Bowman who has ridden Danish Twist three times for a win and two seconds.

“He’s ridden her a number of times earlier in her career and it’s always good to have a jockey like him on in a Group I,” Lees said.

Bowman, who has only recently returned from a successful month’s riding stint in Japan, has already ridden ten Group 1 winners in Australia for the 2015 – 2016 season and is in line to be the leading Group 1 rider for the second year in a row after riding nine Group 1 winners last season.

Danish Twist is on the third line of betting for the Tattersall’s Club Tiara at $6.50 with Ladbrokes.com.au behind the Ciaron Maher trained Azkadellia at $2.70 and Chris Waller’s smart filly Tsaritsa at $5.50.
