Trainer Paddy Cunningham has chosen the Listed $100,000 Gallopers Sports Club Lancaster Stakes (1200m) at Doomben ahead of Scone for his filly Shinji to attempt to keep her unbeaten record intact.

Cunningham had also accepted with Shinji in the Listed $140,000 Pride’s Easifeed Woodlands Stakes (1100m) at Scone on Saturday but opted for the Lancaster Stakes under the set weights conditions.

Shinji will be on equal terms with the other fillies at Doomben but would have had to give all the fillies at Scone weight after being allocated the top weight of 58.5kg under the Quality conditions.

“After her last win I thought we would take her to Scone but I didn’t realise that was a quality race and she would up with a lot more weight,” Cunningham told the Sportsman.

Cunningham is hoping that Shinji can keep her winning run going and said that she deserves her chance at a black type race after winning all her three starts to date.

Shinji won her first start over 1000m at Grafton on March 8 before winning an Eagle Farm double over 1000m on April 5 and April 19.

“She’s certainly earned it, she has improved every time she has gone around,” Cunningham said.

Cunningham was very impressed with her last start win at Eagle when Tegan Harrison had to make two runs on the Falvelon filly.

“It was a very good win because we had to ride her along a bit early then she went to sleep and had to tough it out again on the line.”

Harrison will again be on Shinji who is the $3.80 second favourite for the Lancaster Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au behind Victorian filly Kalabek who was installed the top pick at $3.40 after winning on debut over 1000m at Caulfield on April 21.

The only other runner under double figures in the capacity sixteen horse field is the Kelly Schweida trained filly Totally Sure at $7.
