Cummings To Wing It In Tatt’s Club Cup

Home On A Wing

Home On A Wing will start from barrier 1 in the Listed Tattersall's Club Cup

While all eyes will be on Caulfield tomorrow it’s worth remember we will still be racing in Sydney as well with the Tattersall’s Club Cup meeting at Royal Randwick.

It’s an eight race program and trainer Anthony Cummings is well represented in a few of the events.

Among his horses of not includes a first starter in the City Tattersall’s Plate across 1000m in race two.

With a full field of 14 and only three horses with a start under their belts it’s always a tough ask for punters but Cummings says his filly Arrasene is worth a look.

“She’s a quality filly, impressed everyone in all of her work, trial was good,” he said.

“She showed good gate speed in a trial…I think she’ll be fine.”

In the next race on the card, a BM85 Handicap across 1600m Cummings has five year old gelding Landlocked.

He ran twice at this level during September for solid results but gets back out to the mile for the first time.

“His first up run was excellent, his second run was good but not quite as good,” Cummings said.

“He likes to be ridden a little bit quietly and I think the 1600m gives him a chance to get home.”

In the main event Listed Tattersall’s Club Cup Cummings also has a starter with Home On A Wing drawing prime in the 16 horse field.

His last start was at Group 1 level in The Metropolitan so he’ll enjoy a good drop in class as well as vastly improved early luck.

“He paid full penalty for a wide gate in the Metropolitan,” Cummings said.

“Didn’t have the speed to get up on the pace on a leader dominated track.”

Tomorrow will be different though and Cummings is expecting a similar ride to what saw him just miss out to Green Moon in the Newcastle Cup.

“From this barrier (1) it’s not dissimilar form what he had at Newcastle where he ran second,” he said.

Cummings will also feature promising three year old filly She Must Be Obeyed in the Sharp Nivision Stakes as she makes her first step up into Saturday metropolitan class.

She will be presented at peak fitness to win a race he believes is a realistic hope.

“She’s got the speed to run the time to win the race,” he said.

“She’s a very talented filly…we’re not sure how long her prep will last given her nature.”
