Prolific North Queensland winner Craiglea Deken heads up the nominations for the 2017 $75,000 Mackay Cup at (1800m) at Ooralea Race Course in Mackay on Saturday.

Craiglea Deken is the only horse trainer Krystle Johnston has nominated for the Mackay Cup and the four year old will be chasing his seventh straight win if he lines up on Saturday.

Craiglea Deken is a winner of fourteen of his thirty-nine starts with three of them being at the Ooralea Race Course in Mackay including his last start win in H.L. Black Memorial over 1560m on June 15.

The Mackay Cup will be Craiglea Deken’s first test over the 1800m with the furthest distance he has won over being 1609m at Townsville’s Cluden Park.

The Glenda Bell trained Fastnet Flyer and Trinity Bannon’s Old Smoley finished second and third behind Craiglea Deken at Ooralea Race Course on June 15 and are both nominated for the Mackay Cup.

Also included in the eighteen Mackay Cup nominations is the consistent Mamselle Corday who has only missed a place once from her last six starts which includes one win over 1300m at Rockhampton on March 18.

The Tony McMahon trained mare has been runner-up at her last start at Rockhampton in a 1400m Handicap on May 30 and in the Tattersall’s Gold Cup over 1600m on June 10.

Toowoomba trainer Tony Sears had nominated Palace Tycoon for the Mackay Cup and the Testa Rosa four year old is coming off a last start win in a 1600m Class 6 at Rockhampton on June 22.
