Crack Me Up proved to be too strong for his own age group when he led all of the way to win the Group 3 $125,000 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast on July 1.

Jockey Michael Cahill takes over from Damian Browne on Crack Me Up in the Tatterasll’s Mile and even though he has drawn the outside barrier in the eleven horse field, bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au have installed the Mossman gelding as the $2.35 favourite.

Trainer Liam Birchley is not worried about Crack Me Up taking on the older brigade on Saturday after he performed well when second to the Chris Waller trained seasoned galloper Religify in the Listed $100,000 The Wayne Wilson (1600m) at Doomben two starts back.

Crack Me Up’s only below par performance in his current campaign was three starts back when twelfth to Niccanova in the Group 3 $150,000 Fred Best Classic (1400m) on May 27 on the controversial Eagle Farm track that has subsequently been shut down for further repairs.

“I told the owners to completely forget that run as I knew Crack Me Up was much better than that,” Birchley told AAP.

“And I wasn’t the only one speaking out as something had to be done (to the track).”

Birchley is still undecided in which direction he will head with Crack Me Up over the summer months and could head to Sydney for the Group 2 $250,000 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick before running in Listed $250,000 Bernborough Handicap (16oom) at Doomben.

A Magic Millions campaign in January is also on the cards but Birchley is yet to select which race would best suit Crack Me Up.

“He is a Magic Millions horse but there isn’t much for him as I think he will be best at 1600 metres to 1800 metres,” Birchley said.

The Tony Gollan trained Sheiswhatsheis is on the second line of betting at $2.70 for the Tattersall’s Mile at Ladbrokes.com.au and has drawn nicely at barrier four with apprentice Alannah Fancourt in the saddle again.

Fancourt was aboard Sheiswhatsheis last start for an all the way win in a 1640m Handicap at Doomben on July 8.
