Jockey Corey Brown will be the new rider for Queensland sprinter Temple Of Boom when he lines up in the Group 1 $500,000 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 26.

Brown will be reunited with Temple Of Boom taking over from top Kiwi rider James McDonald who has been the regular rider for the six year old recently and was aboard winning the Group 1 $350,000 The James Boag Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick on April 21.
The sort after jockey hasn’t ridden the top line sprinter since running fifth to Pinwheel in last year’s Group 3 $175,000 W J Healy Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on June 25 and was aboard taking out the $176,000 Myer Magic Millions Sprint (1000m) at the Gold Coast two starts before.
“Corey Brown takes over now. James had a booking a month ago so Corey will take over now and then he can decide if he wants to stay on for the Patinack,” said trainer Tony Gollan
Temple Of Boom will be having his first start at Moonee Valley and Gollan believes the StrathAyr surface will be an asset to the gelding who has won eight of his ten wins on tracks rated dead, slow and heavy.
Gollan is uncertain whether he will take Temple Of Boom to Moonee Valley prior to the Manikato to get a feel of the tight track after he was able to handle the tricky Caulfield circuit at his first attempt.
“He hasn’t been to Moonee Valley before and I’m not sure yet if we will take him over to give him a look. He handled Caulfield no problems, probably a little trickier,” Gollan said.
“I’m looking forward to see how he goes on the StrathAyr. It’s usually a surface that has a little bit more give out of it than your normal grass tracks without rain.”
“The principal about it is that there is always a little bit of cushion under foot and that sort of surface seems to suit this horse, so if there is no rain hopefully the surface will be in our favour.”
“I’m really looking forward to the Manikato.”
Temple Of Boom settled a little bit worse than midfield and ran home to finish fifth to Buffering in the Group 2 $220,000 Schweppes Schillaci Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield last Saturday and the Queensland pair will clash again in the Manikato.
Gollan’s other smart sprinter Spirit Of Boom will step out again in the Group 2 $300,000 Yellowglen Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 3 with Nash Rawiller replacing Michael Walker following his third to Hallowell Belle in the Group 2 $220,000 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 6.
“He’s ticking over nicely, he did feel the track a little bit, no injury but just felt it a little bit,” Gollan said.
“He will go into the Salinger (Yellowglen Stakes) which is where his rating is at, it’s a race for a horse like him and hopefully he will back up in the Patinack the following week.”
Gollan’s stablemates look likely to come up against each other when the pair meet in the Group 1 $1m Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
“They’ll probably class in the Patinack,” Gollan said.
“At this stage Nash Rawiller will ride Spirit Of Boom in the Salinger.”
