Promising young juvenile Born Ready will make his debut at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse this Saturday, with his trainer Marc Conners eager to see if he will live up to his high expectations.

Born Ready will have his first start in the Birch And Waite Foods Handicap and Conners is hopeful that his run will show promise.

“He’s still a bit immature but he’s a very nice horse,” Conners said.

“His first trial at Rosehill he missed the jump and really never took any part in it.

“His last trial at Warwick Farm he jumped and did everything right and trialled quite nicely.

“He’s a horse who is going to get better next time so we’ll just see what he can do on Saturday with no great pressure.”

Conners, who is the son of top trainer Clarry, has had less than usual numbers of youngsters running in races this season.

“They’ve been a bit later coming this year,” he said.

“We’ve tried to get them going early and they’ve just needed a bit more time.”

The trainer will also run Born Ready’s stablemate Letchworth in Saturday’s race, who will be running the 2,000 metre distance for the first time.

“He’s improved each run and he’s probably looking for the 2000 now,” Conners said.

“I’d like it a bit wet with him but he has performed on the dry as well.”

Jockey Tommy Berry will ride Born Ready, while Tim Clark will be aboard Letchworth.
