Comin’ Through completed his Autumn – Winter Carnivals campaign with a win in the Group 1 $650,000 Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup (2000m) at Doomben on May 19 before being sent for a short break.

The Chris Waller trained five year old returned for the start of his 2018 Spring Carnival campaign with a first up win in the Group 2 $200,000 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 1 and is now chasing his third win on the trot.

Comin’ Through is no stranger to the Melbourne way of going and was a winner over the same course and distance as the Makybe Diva Stakes when he took out the Group 3 $200,000 The Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Flemington during his three year old season in the 2016 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

“He will give them a shake. His first up win was very good and his work since has been good. He has won at the track and distance before,” Waller said.

Comin’ Through has drawn nicely at barrier five in the top class Makybe Diva Stakes and Waller is confident that Michael Walker will give the gelding another top ride.

“He has drawn well and Michael Walker rides,” Waller said.

“I guess it is the best of what Melbourne has to offer in terms of their weight for age horses.”

“Obviously Humidor is the class act and there are a couple of other up and comers there that deserve respect.”

Humidor is the top contender from trainer Darren Weir’s four Makybe Diva Stakes runners and the six year old is in great form with a last start win in the Group 1 $1m New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield two weeks ago.

Humidor is the $4 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Makybe Diva Stakes just ahead of the James Cummings trained Kementari at $4.20 after the pair ran the quinella in the Memsie Stakes while the third placegetter and Humidor’s stablemate Kings Will Dream is next in the betting at $4.50 with Comin’ Through marked at $10.

Weir will also saddle up multiple Group 1 winner Black Heart Bart ($20) and Japanese import Tosen Basil ($34).
