Claudia Jean opened as a favourite when the 2015 Magic Millions Classic final field was released on Monday afternoon following her impressive debut win in the Christmas Season Plate (1000m) at Flemington on December 20, but the debut winner has been on the drift throughout the week and is now on the third line of betting behind Wicked Intent and Frequendly.

While punters have dropped off Claudia Jean in the lead-up to the Magic Millions Classic, trainer Tom Dabernig is happy with the condition of the Not A Single Doubt filly and believes that she has taken plenty of improvement from her impressive debut win.

“She is a really promising filly,” Dabernig told Sky Racing HQ.

“I’ve said before that she won with a bit in hand at Flemington and she seems to have improved since that run.

“She gets the benefit of following the fence and Stephen Baster is an excellent two-year-old rider.

“I am really happy with her going in on Saturday.”

The Hayes and Dabernig stable will also be represented in the 2015 Magic Millions Classic by Miss Idyllic, who has performed well without winning in her four race starts to date; with the Exceed And Excel filly beaten by less than two lengths in both the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 11 and the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

Dabernig does not believe that there is a great deal of difference between Claudia Jean and Miss Idyllic heading into the Magic Millions Classic, but he admits that Miss Idyllic will likely need some luck in running in the $2 million event.

“They are hard to split at this stage, but given the barrier draw I would probably lean to Claudia Jean for Saturday’s race,” Dabernig said.

“I am thrilled with her going into this race.

“The barrier is just a little bit sticky and she will need a little bit of luck, but we couldn’t have the horse any better going into this race.”

Miss Idyllic has received a sprinkling of support in 2015 Magic Millions Classic betting markets and is now into Magic Millions Classic odds of $14 with Ladbrokes.
