Clark Thrilled to Partner Cassadee in Vinery Stud Stakes

Jockey Tim Clark is thrilled to take the ride on Cassadee in Saturday’s Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens and is confident that the filly will take plenty of beating under the conditions of the race.

Cassadee has only made six appearances at the races since she debuted for a near three length win in the TAB Maiden Plate (1400m) at Randwick on January 3rd, but has shown plenty of ability and will be seeking a third-consecutive win when she takes her place in the Vinery Stud Stakes field.

Clark is yet to partner Cassadee competitively, but he is confident that her proven ability at 2000m amongst a Vinery Stud Stakes field that will largely be made up of fillies that are yet to be tested at the distance, could mean the difference.

“She seems to be on the improve and she’s a filly that’s won over the trip before,” Clark told Racing Victoria.

“A lot of the other fillies are getting there for the first time in their preparation but she’s had that run over the 2000.

“She looks a really strong staying filly and switching back to Sydney and having a crack at a Group 1, I think she will run really well.

“My filly has the miles in her legs and if it does happen to become a bit of a stamina test, she’s going to be strong at the end of 2000.”

Clark concedes that Cassadee will face her biggest career test to date in the Vinery Stud Stakes, but believes that she is more than up to the class.

“I think a filly like Dawn Wall looks like a really genuine staying filly,” Clark said.

“She won well in probably a traditional lead-up in the Kembla race (Kembla Grange Classic), I thought her performance was really good to chase down Lubiton.

“Then there’s Foxplay. She’s obviously jumping up sharply in distance but has a very good record and on her home track, and will be hard to beat.”

Cassadee was still green when she faded late to finish fifth in the Vinery BM67 (1400m) second-up and was luckless in transit when fourth in the TheBigScreenCompany.com BM64 (1400m) on February 8th.

Finishing eighth in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) on February 11th, the daughter of Redoute’s Choice has since won both the Nick Johnstone Real Estate BM70 (1600m) and City Jeep Grand Cherokee BM70 (2040m) with complete ease.

Cassadee is currently tied on the fourth line of Vinery Stud Stakes betting with Lasqueti Spirit at Ladbrokes.com.au, at a $10 quote.
