Jockey Christian Reith has been suspended by NSW Racing Stewards for careless riding and will miss the start of the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Stewards found Reith guilty of careless riding relating to the incident in which fellow jockey Cory Brown was dislodged from Rain Alert in the Off The Rails Maiden Handicap (1100m) at Gosford on February 9.
The inquiry sustained that Reith allowed his mount Florabella to shift out when not clear of Rain Alert on the home turn causing the three year old to fall.
Brown only received bumps and bruises and bounced back to score an explosive win on rising sprint star Rain Affair in the Group 2 $200,000 TAB Sportsbet Expressway Stakes at Rosehill two days later.
Reith has a good book of rides at Warwick Farm tomorrow including the mount on the Peter Snowden trained Free Wheeling in the Group 2 $175,000 Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) and Nocturnelle for Chris Waller in the Group 2 $175,000 Patinack Farm Light Fingers Stakes (1200m).
He will begin his suspension on Monday and can return to race riding on March 13 four days before the Group 1 Randwick Guineas meeting.
Reith is having a good year in the saddle with twenty-eight winners this season in Sydney and will be hoping to maintain his association with the leading stables of Chris Waller and Peter Snowden when he returns.
