Trainer Greg Bennet believes he has a big autumn player in his three-year-old filly Charm’s Honour after her latest win at Doomben on Saturday.

Charm’s Honour gave Bennet his first Brisbane city winner when she won the $100,000 Listed Mode Plate ahead of Punch On and Saraji.

Bennet had always had the 1,200 metre race in mind for Charm’s Honour, however was keen to see how she first performed in her two Sydney starts.

The Strada filly finished third in both races, which was enough to spur Bennet on towards a Brisbane run.

“We did look at it early on, it was a little dependent on how she performed in Sydney,” Bennet said.

“Her two runs resuming in Sydney this time were full of merit.”

Charm’s Honour was unlucky not to win the De Bortoli Wines Handicap for three-year-old at Canterbury on November 26 after striking interference in the opening stages of the race.

“There was a little bit of interference early on in the race,” Bennet said.

“I went home a tad disappointed.”

The trainer now plans to send Charm’s Honour for a spell in preparation for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Bennet regrets sending the filly to Scone for one more run at the end of her last preparation where she finished fifth.

“I’m going to let her go, I did fall into a bit of a trap last time with her,” he said.

“In hindsight it was probably the wrong thing to do she was flat.”

“I don’t think I’m going to achieve anything more with her this preparation.”

Charm’s Honour will be targeted at the Group 3 and Listed races throughout the autumn carnival.

“I’m going to bring her back and aim her at some of the listed and Group 3 races in the autumn,” Bennet said.

“I think she’ll get a mile and that’s the sort of race that I’ll be targeting in the autumn.

“She’s a very adaptable filly.”

Charm’s Honour has won four of her eight starts and has earned more than $120,000 in prize money during her short career.
