Chapter And Verse will head back to the Gold Coast in January to chase another win at the 2020 The Star Magic Millions Raceday after scoring a thrilling win in the Group 3 $200,000 George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben last Saturday.

The Desleigh Forster trained Chapter And Verse scored a memorable win in the $1m Racing Queensland Magic Millions QTIS Handicap (1300m) at the Gold Coast during the 2019 Magic Millions Carnival and he is on track for a second Magic Millions trophy after his come from behind nose win over the Tony Gollan trained Outback Barbie.

Chapter And Verse ($6.50) relished the hot pace that I’m A Rippa ($4.80 equal favourite) had set up front after Jake Bayliss made it certain the Tony Gollan trained speedster would dictate the pace.

I’m A Rippa showed plenty of fight in the straight but was overhauled by the back markers in the final 50m with his stablemate Outback Barbie ($4.80 equal favourite) and Chapter And Verse taking the decision up to the judge’s box.

Chapter And Verse with jockey Mark DuPlessis in the saddle, was given the nod by the narrowest of margins, but that was enough to give Forster and the five year old’s connections plenty of reason to celebrate a gutsy win.

“What can I say other than he is a special horse. He is a good horse. I think he can be the best I have trained and I think he can win in even better company,” Forster said.

“Mark (jockey Du Plessis) knows exactly how to ride him. I was a bit worried when he got so far back but Mark got clear at the right time.”

“I don’t have 100, 200 horses in work. I only have 15-19 horses in work and these horses don’t come around that often.”

“I don’t get to run in these big races every day of the week, so when I can win a big race, it’s unbelievable.”

Chapter And Verse is now the winner of six of his nineteen starts and is closing in to the million dollar earnings mark with $945,075 already in the bank.
