Caulfield Cup 2015: Snow Sky The Pick Of The Internationals

There will be five international runners in the 2015 Caulfield Cup field and Racing Victoria International Recruitment Officer Leigh Jordon believes that Snow Sky may be the pick of the bunch in the Group 1 event at Caulfield on Saturday.

Snow Sky stamped himself as a genuine Caulfield Cup contender when he took out the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup (2816m) at York on May 15 and the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (2414m) at Royal Ascot on June 20 and jockey Damien Oliver was brimming in praise for the Northern Hemisphere four-year-old after he rode him in track work on Sunday.

The talented entire has flown under the radar somewhat ahead of the 2015 Caulfield Cup, but Jordon told Racing Ahead that the son of Nayef could join Taufan’s Melody, All The Good and Dunaden as European-trained winners of the $3.15 million event.

“Damien was down on Sunday to ride him in his last bit of work and I know when Damien got off he said that he was spot-on,” Jordon said.

“A lot of good judges say that maybe the Caulfield Cup is his race and I think that out of the five he is firming as the pick of the internationals from a Caulfield Cup perspective.”

Fame Game, Hokko Brave, Trip To Paris and Quest For More are the other internationals that were included in the 2015 Caulfield Cup field that was released this morning, but Quest For More requires a scratching to earn a run in the race.

Jordon said that all five horses but Hokko Brave had completed their final piece of track work before the Caulfield Cup and he believes that Quest For More was the standout performer at the Werribee International Equine Centre this morning.

“Fame Game was ridden by Zac Purton in his last piece of work and it is well reported that Zac thinks he will improve on whatever he does in the Caulfield Cup, but he was still happy with the horse,” Jordon said.

“Hokko Brave, ridden by Craig Williams, is going to do his last bit of work tomorrow.

“Trip To Paris did a solid bit of work this morning and Quest For More had Tommy Berry on him today.

“They put the blinkers on him today and Tommy was much more enthused with the horse and he was a lot sharper.”
