Catchy is one of nine Lindsay Park trained fillies that are included in the ninety-two nominations for the Crown Oaks which will be run for the first this year under the new sponsors name as the Kennedy Oaks.

Catchy was the star two year old during the 2017 Melbourne Autumn Carnival when she made it four wins from her first four starts as a juvenile with her sensational come from behind win in the Group 1 $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

The Fastnet Rock filly resumed for the Spring with a first up second to Crown Witness in the Group 3 $150,000 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 19 and then found herself back in the winner’s stall with her fast finishing burst to claim the Group 2 $200,000 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington four weeks later.

Group 1 placed Aloisia along with her stablemates Kitsune and Naantali are also nominated for the Crown Oaks (Kennedy Oaks) but will have to be transferred to another stable after their trainer Ciaron Maher was suspended for six months from next week after he pleaded guilty to a charge of conduct prejudicial to the image, or interest, or welfare of racing relating to the ownership of several horses under his care.

Aloisia showed that she has plenty of class with a second placing to Capital Gain in the Group 1 $600,000 BMW J.J. Atkins (1600m) at Doomben during the 2017 Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Victoria’s leading trainer Darren Weir has nominated five fillies for the Oaks with Anchor Bid, Leather‘N’Lace and Limestone all showing well above average ability.

Tony McEvoy’s filly Roomooz is the best performed of his four Oaks nominations while James Cummings has nominated two fillies under the Godolphin banner, Banish and Canadiene.

First acceptances for the Oaks will close at 12 noon on Tuesday, 24 October 2017.
