Racing Victoria confirmed the news on twitter following the release of barriers for the $1 million juvenile feature earlier today.

“M Kavanagh has informed Stewards CASQUETS SCRATCHED from Blue Diamond. Wide barrier,” the official Racing Victoria stewards account said.

The exciting filly convinced Kavanagh to accept for the glamour two-year-old race with a tough win in the Listed Talindert Stakes on Saturday but the high profile trainer said he didn’t think she could win from the wide alley.

“Pretty disappointed with barrier 16…I don’t think she can win from out there,” Kavanagh said.

The Coolmore-owned Casquets has had just two career outings, with her previous start a third-place effort in the Sportingbet Plate at Moonee Valley on February 1.

Her withdrawal leaves 15 starters to contest Victoria’s premier two-year-old race, with the field headed by Adelaide filly Miracles Of Life and the Darley-owned Guelph.

Miracles Of Life has drawn the inside barrier for her attempt to record a fourth straight victory and keep an unbeaten record alive.

Guelph was defeated on debut in October but has come back well from a brief spell to record two dominant victories including in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Fillies’ Prelude on February 9.
