Brilliant Breeders’ Plate winner Capitalist resumes his Magic Millions campaign when he runs in the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1100m) at Wyong on Thursday.
The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Capitalist was installed the early favourite for the $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9 following his blistering win in the Listed $150,000 Newgate Breeders’ Plate (1000m) at Randwick on October 3.
Capitalist is marked as the $3 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Gold Coast 2yo Classic and another impressive performance at Wyong could see the Written Tycoon colt firm up even further.
Capitalist was sent for a spell following his runaway win in the Breeders’ Plate and has returned to the stable in fine order as he displayed last Tuesday with a four lengths barrier trial win over 900m at Rosehill.
“Capitalist trialled really well at Rosehill last week and it is so far, so good with him — he looks well,’’ Peter Snowden told The Daily Telegraph.
Snowden has also accepted with new stable acquisition Niccolance and is confident that both youngsters will be able to handle the trickly Wyong circuit.
“Capitalist is quite tractable and I don’t think Niccolance will have any trouble handling Wyong either,’’ Snowden said.
“With the blinkers on he did everything right in his trial.’’
Niccolance also has had a barrier trial and the Nicconi colt raced away for a six lengths win at Kembla Grange last Wednesday with the blinkers on.
“Niccolance has only just joined the stable and we are still learning about him but he is in very good order,” Snowden said.
“He has had a race and a barrier trial, the horse has done enough work, so we won’t be doing much with him on the track.
“We will just keep him happy and it will be a matter of saddling him up on the day and seeing how he goes.’’
Capitalist has drawn barrier three in the ten horse Wyong Magic Millions 2yo Classic field with Niccolance drawing next to him at gate four.
Niccolance is also at the top end of the market order for the Magic Millions 2yo Classic at the Gold Coast and is on the third line of betting at $9 with the Tony Gollan trained Zelady’s Night Out splitting the two Snowden youngsters at $7.
Magic Millions 2yo Classic market order at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3 Capitalist, $7 Zelady’s Night Out, $9 Nicolance, $10 Nikitas, $15 Detective, $17 Conchita, Slumber Party, Sundance, $21 Faraway Town, The Last Kiss, Highland Beat.
