Capitalist contested the fourth barrier trial of the morning over 850 metres and he took up the running in the early stages and travelled sweetly throughout before classy filly English got her nose in front on the unbeaten galloper in the shadows of the post.

Snowden told Sky Racing HQ that Capitalist did everything that he was asked in the barrier trial and he is confident that the son of Written Tycoon is exactly where he wants him ahead of the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on March 5 and the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 19.

“He trailed well,” Snowden said.

“The reason for the trial was that he is very well in himself and a bit fresh, so we thought this would bring him down a touch.

“He trialed very sharp, he was left in front from the start but he didn’t over race and he travelled through his gears nicely.

“He found the post with a good bit in hand and he has recovered very quickly.

“It was just what the horse needed going forward this preparation.

“It was just a bit of a fitness work and doing the right amount of work so that he is where I want him to be for the Todman in a fortnight and then hopefully onto to the Slipper.”

Capitalist quickly stamped himself as a horse to follow when he recorded an impressive victory in a barrier trial over 838 metres at Royal Randwick on September 21 and he has done nothing wrong in his three race starts to date.

He started his racing career with a comfortable victory in the Listed Breeders Plate (1000m) at Royal Randwick on October 3 and after a stint in the spelling paddock he returned to racing with another easy win in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic (1100m) on December 17 before he justified his short quote to take out the $2 million Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9.

Capitalist is currently available at 2016 Golden Slipper odds of $3.80 with Ladbrokes and he is a clear favourite from Extreme Choice ($8), Astern ($11), Honesty Prevails ($13), Telperion ($15), Scarlet Rain ($17) and Yankee Rose ($17).
