Golden Slipper winner Capitalist headlines the first acceptances for the Group 1 $1m Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on September 10.

Capitalist is one of nineteen youngsters the father and son training team of Peter and Paul Snowden have among the 212 first acceptances for the first Group 1 race of the 2016 Sydney Spring Carnival.
Capitalist is well on track for his 2016 Spring Carnival debut with a very impressive barrier trial win over 850m on the Kensington track at Randwick on July 15.
Peter Snowden is happy with the way Capitalist is shaping up and expects the rising three year old to step out against the older horses in the Group 2 $175,000 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on August 6 at his first run since winning the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 19.
“Possibly has another trial and then possibly he’ll run in the Missile Stakes on the sixth of August,” Peter Snowden told AAP.
“He had five or six weeks off and he’s been in work about two-and-a-half months. So far, touch wood, everything is going fine.
“I’m happy with his work and his attitude is good. All is good.”
“We’ll just go one race at a time.” Snowden said.
“He’ll probably have a three-race preparation, then a short break, and then come back again for the end of the carnival. When you’ve got them up and racing in August, it’s a long time until November.
“The Missile is his first run and then maybe the Run To The Rose. We’ll just take one race at a time.”
Capitalist’s stablemate Defcon is also among the first acceptances for the Golden Rose Stakes and he also has had the benefit of a barrier trial for a second over 900m at Rosehill today.
While Defcon couldn’t match it with his superstar stablemate in the Golden Slipper when thirteenth, the Choisir colt was a winner at his previous start when he took out the Group 3 $275,000 Mercedes-Benz Canberra Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at Canberra on March 6.
Also among the first acceptances for the Golden Rose Stakes in the David Vandyke trained Group 1 winning filly Yankee Rose.
Yankee Rose also proved to be one of the two year old stars during the Sydney Autumn Carnival and after producing an outstanding first up second to Capitalist in the Golden Slipper went on to win the Group 1 $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on April 2.
Trainer John O’Shea has a large number among the first acceptances with his outstanding two year old Astern one of twenty-six youngsters the stable still has left in contention.
Astern was also one of the stars of his two year old season but after making it two from two with a win in the Group 2 $250,000 UVEX Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on February 20, had no luck from a wide barrier in the Golden Slipper, finishing eleventh behind Capitalist.
Then at his next race start the Medaglia D’Oro colt bounced back with a win in the Group 3 $200,000 Widden Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on April 2.
James Cummings has kept his Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner Prized Icon in contention while Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller also has a healthy contingent of eleven juveniles left in the Golden Rose Stakes.
Early Golden Rose Stakes markets have Capitalist as the $5 favourite ahead of Yankee Rose at $6.50, Good Standing at $9 and Astern at $11.
Final acceptances for the Golden Rose Stakes are due on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
