Talented Godolphin filly Calaverite has been removed from the 2015 Widden Stakes field and will not take her place in the Group 3 event due to the possibility of a wet track at Rosehill Gardens this weekend.

Calaverite was set to have her first race start since she scored an upset victory in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on October 4, but trainer John O’Shea told TVN this morning that he was not keen to run the daughter of Lonhro on the Rosehill Gardens track that is currently rated a heavy nine.
“We just thought we’d let everyone know early, she doesn’t need to go around if the track is too wet,” O’Shea said.
“It doesn’t change much with our preparation going forward.
“She can just wait a couple of weeks.
“She’s quite forward and I can keep her ticking over.”
Godolphin will now be solely represented in the 2015 Widden Stakes field by Igraine who finished second behind Calaverite in the Gimcrack Stakes and was given a quiet barrier trial behind Always Allison at Rosehill Gardens on January 20.
Gai Waterhouse-trained Giulietta has recorded one race win from as many starts and is currently on top of the 2015 Widden Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes at a quote of $3.60.
Giulietta made her racing debut with a professional victory in the Multi Plate (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on January 3 and is one of a number of juveniles that Waterhouse has set for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21.
Gerald Ryan-trained Fireworks is yet to record a race win, but the Snitzel filly is currently on the second line of Widden Stakes betting markets at a quote of $4.80.
Fireworks made her racing debut with a second place finish in The Entertainment Grounds Maiden (1000m) at Gosford on December 29 and she flashed home late after missing the start in the Hyland Race Colours Plate (1100m) at Royal Randwick on January 17.
Ryan has ruled out a Golden Slipper tilt for Fireworks, but revealed that the two-year-old could head to Melbourne for a crack at the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28.
Igraine ($5.50) and Tempt Me Not ($8) are also available at single figure Widden Stakes odds, but the best-backed runner in betting markets for the Group 3 event has been Chris Waller-trained Always Allison ($11 into $9.50).
Always Allison made her first public appearance with a narrow barrier trial victory over Pierette at Rosehill Gardens on January 6 and he produced an even more impressive performance when he took out another trial at the same venue on January 20.
Pierrette ($16), Micucci ($21) and Entrancing ($26) have all remained steady in Widden Stakes betting markets, while Lake Geneva ($7 out to $8) and Yattarana ($21 out to $26) have been on the drift.
