Queensland jockey Michael Cahill has already wrapped up the Brisbane Jockey Premiership and is now only one day away from winning the Australian Metropolitan Jockey Premiership.

Cahill currently sits two wins clear of Nash Rawiller and has the opportunity to extend his lead when he rides at Doomben tomorrow.

The veteran jockey has been riding in Brisbane since 1995 and has experience in a range of other countries, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau and Mauritius, but has never had a season as successful as this one.

Speaking on Racing HQ, a modest Cahill was quick to thank his many supporters and said he was very proud of his achievement.

“It is a good achievement, I have been very fortunate throughout the year and I’ve had a lot of good support from owners and trainers,” Cahill said on Sky Racing.

“I’ve managed to ride some decent horses.”

Cahill’s consistency has been his strong point during the 2012/2013 racing season but he managed to win a number of big races including the Magic Millions (1200m) with Real Surreal, Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) with Someday and the Listed Members’ Quality (1600m) with Transporter.

The leading jockey believes that his impressive record gave him the opportunity to ride a number of exciting horses during the 2013 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

“The interstate trainers coming here tend to look for the jockeys that are in the first two or three in the premiership and it is a big help that way,” Cahill said.

Cahill is very deserving of the Australian Metropolitan Jockey Premiership as he gave up the opportunity to win the title during the 2001/2002 racing season.

“I led the Premiership by a pretty wide margin in February and I had the opportunity to go to Hong Kong and I went over there,” the premiership winner said.

“I don’t regret it, it was terrific experience but I did give up my chance to win the premiership that year.”

Cahill has the opportunity to finish his amazing season on a high with a strong book of rides at Doomben tomorrow including Fastnet Heart in the Ormiston College Plate (1200m) and Sigmund in the Sirromet Wines Handicap (1650m).

A fascinating discussion is worth comment. I think that you should publish more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject
but typically people do not discuss such subjects.
    To the next! Best wishes!!

Good day! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog
platform are you using for this website? I’m getting tired of WordPress because
I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options
for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog
and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty
penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% positive.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
