Saturday’s Rosehill two year old winner Bull Point will join Gai Waterhouse’s Melbourne Spring Carnival assault with the Group 1 $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) high on the agenda.

Bull Point raced away for three lengths victory for Nash Rawiller in the $85,000 Forum Group Sprint (1200m) and Waterhouse immediately pencilled in the Group 1 for the for the three year olds at Flemington on November 2, the first day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
”He will go on to some of the spring sprinting races for the three-year-olds and hopefully he will end up in the Coolmore,” Waterhouse said.
Waterhouse also has the option of running in the Group 1 $1m Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 14 but is likely to stick to the shorter sprint races.
”He won’t head to the Golden Rose – I’ve got enough Golden Rose horses,” Waterhouse said.
Bull Point was having his third race start and it was plain to see that he has continued to improve with race experience.
The Fastnet Rock colt had shown a tendency to miss the start at his first two runs but on Saturday he was away cleanly with Rawiller settling him just off the pace.
”He was never out of second gear. He jumped with them, he got into a lovely rhythm, came around the turn a bit wide and then extended his lead, it was great to watch,” Waterhouse said.
Rawiller was very impressed with the colt’s improved manners and fully expects him to be competitive at the top grade.
”He really ran through the line,” Rawiller said.
”Last start, I know nothing went right and I’m not making excuses, but in the straight he just didn’t feel at all like he was hitting the line.
“We jumped a little better and I learnt something the other day, digging him to go forward wasn’t the go.
”Had he missed the kick again today I would have been happy to leave him alone, settle at the back and wait for his turn of foot.
”There is no doubt he has a good future.”
Bull Point recorded his second win from three starts and repaid his followers after going down the previous start as an odds on favourite.
Rawiller had a magical start to the day, riding the first four winners and is quickly closing in Hugh Bowman in the Sydney jockey’s premiership.
Bowman started the day five and a half wins in front on seventy-one and a half, but came up winless from five rides and now has Rawiller breathing down his throat for the title.
Apart from Bull Point, Rawiller was successful on stablemate The Great Snowman, Relaxed And Happy for Chris Waller and Excellent Point for Darren Smith.
