Buffering and Pampelonne cleared to run in Doomben 10,000

Doomben 10,000 hopefuls Buffering and Pampelonne have been cleared to take their place in the Group 1 WFA $650,000 sprint at Doomben today.

Buffering has been under an injury cloud with a bruised hoof and was a race morning scratching when favourite for the Group 1 $400,000 Bundaberg Distilling Co. BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 12 and trainer Robert Heathcote has been battling against the clock to get his charge fit for today’s assignment.

The four year old has recovered in time to take his place in the field today and has been passed fit to run after passing several veterinary tests over the last couple of days.

Heathcote has declared Buffering is fit enough to contest today’s Group 1 but admits he has been behind the eight ball after missing a run and a couple of vital gallops.

“Buffering missed a run in the BTC Cup and at least one hard gallop,” Heathcote said.

“It’s been a hectic time trying to get him right over the last ten days, but we’re happy now.”

The Tim Martin trained Pampelonne has also been cleared to start after sustaining a minor injury due to a stable accident.

The three year old required several stitches to a head wound early in the week after arriving from interstate.

“He hit his head on a bolt and got a couple of stitches but he’ll be right,” Martin said.

BTC Cup winner Sea Siren remains the Doomben 10,000 favourite at $4.20 with Buffering at $5.50.

Pampelonne is next in order at $6 then we have to go out to $11 for Pinwheel and Mid Summer Music.

Brisbane missed the heavy rain that was predicted during the week with Doomben receiving only twelve mills for the week and officials has gone with a Dead 4 rating today with the rail out 4.5m for the entire course.
